Yunnan: Gongshan Zizhi Xian: Cikai Zheng. About 30 km form Gongshan along road to Kongdang. E side of Gaoligong Shan. S facing 30-60 degree slope. Subtropical evergreen broadleaved forest. With Tsuga and some deciduous broadleaved trees. 27°45'59"N, 98°34'14"E; 2800 m.
Growing on steep slope in dappled shade in primary forest. S-facing. Loam. Slope 30-60°. Tree to 10 m tall. Leaf blade to 50 cm long, abaxially silvery, adaxially glossy green Fruit green with a rusty brown indumentum. Common.
