Yunnan: Longyang Qu: Bawan Xiang. Trail N of Hwy S317 (road from Baoshan to Tengchong) starting at km 22.6 in the vicinity of Lihuipo, E side of Gaoligong Shan. Subtropical evergreen broadleaved forest. Undisturbed subtropical evergreen broadleaved forest dominated by Lithocarpus, Ficus and Rhododendron. 24°49'46"N, 98°46'5"E; 2167 m.
Growing on ridge in forest. S-facing. humus. Base rock: marble. Slope 10-30°. Tree ca. 10 m tall. Corolla red with dark red spots. Old fruit brown. Frequent.
