Yunnan: Tengchong Xian: Jietou Xiang. Datang Cun. Vicinity of Daogou Yilinggan, NNE of Datang. W side of Gaoligong Shan. Subtropical evergreen broadleaved forest. Forest dominated by Rhododendron, Salix, Gaultheria, Rubus, Lyonia, and bamboo. 25°44'43"N, 98°43'1"E; 2900 m.
Growing in forest in sun. SW-facing. Loam. Base rock: marble. Slope 30-60°. Tree ca. 5 m tall. Fruit golden brown. Occasional.
