On soil under trees dominated by Quercus and Picea.
Pileus egg shaped when young, becoming convex in age, with shallow grooves, umbonate, edge deliquescing, easily separated from stipe. Lamellae crowded, white when young, soon becoming dark gray from edge toward center, then black, and deliquescing to a black, inky fluid in age. Stipe white, subcylindrical, with a fugacious annulus, thicken downwards. Context very thin.
