Sichuan: Xiangcheng Xian. Yibailingba Gou. Off road from Xiangcheng to Daocheng, ca. 20 km from Xiangcheng. Gorge with steep slopes, running perpendicular to road and tributary of Suoqu He. Vegetation of large Pinus, Abies and Picea and mixed smaller, broadleaved deciduous trees of Acer, Prunus spp., Rhamnus, Sageretia, Syringa, Betula, etc. throughout and large trees of Populus along stream. 29°4'33"N, 99°55'8"E; 3150-3240 m.
On soil under trees dominated by Quercus and Picea. Cap 7 cm in diam, convex to applanate, hardly umbonate, center dark brown or blackish, becoming gray to brown gray towards the striate margin. Volval remnants plate-like, dirty white. Stipe 10 x 1-1.5cm, slightly attenuate upwards, dirty white, covered with gray to brown squamules, volval remnants saccate, but often broken during development of fruit bodies, white, but outer surface often with yellowish to rusty spots.
