Leccinum albellum (Peck) Singer
Sichuan: Daocheng Xian. SW side of Haizi Shan between Sandui and Litang. Boulder strewn, previously glaciated area adjacent to remnant glacial lake. 29°23'9"N, 100°8'58"E; 4500-4600 m.
On ground near Rhododendron (with no other trees or shrubs any more nearby!) at 4400 m. Pileus 4-5 cm in diam., reddish brown to orange, dry, sometimes slightly viscid. Pores white. Stipe 3-4 x 1-1.5 cm, fusiform, with brown to dark brown squamules. Context white, unchanging. Taste mild.
