Xerocomus punctilifer (W. F. Chiu) F. L. Tai
Sichuan: Xiangcheng Xian. Pass between Xiangcheng and Reda over Ma'an Shan. Open barren area at pass with scattered Quercus scrub and scattered Larix and Picea. 29°0'7"N, 99°44'34"E; 4200-4270 m.
On ground under Quercus at 4100 m. Pileus 3-5 cm in diam., convex to applanate, dry, grayish brown to brown, tomentose. Hymenophore yellow, unchanging or slowly bluing; tubes yellow, unchanging or slowly bluing. Stipe 5-9 x 1-1.5 cm, dirty white, upper part often yellowish, with longitudinally striations; context yellowish in apical region, whitish in lower part, bluing. Taste mild.
