On ground in forest of Picea and Quercus at 3500 m.Pileus 5-8 cm in diam., convex, dry, dark brown, margin with purplish tinge. Hymenophore gray brown, becoming dark blue to brown or black when injured. Stipe 7-9 x 1-1.5 cm, subcylindrical, densely covered with fine gray to blackish squamules. Context white, bluing. Taste mild. With a slide.
