Suillus luteus (Fries) Gray
Sichuan: Xiangcheng Xian. W of Xiangcheng on highway XV09 to Reda Xiang on Reda side of pass over Ma'an Shan. Remnant Picea-Quercus-Prunus-Salix forest and adjacent openings and loose stony slopes; mostly intact Quercus and mixed conifer forests from 3750 m to tree line. 29°2'41"N, 99°42'41"E; 3450-3800 m.
On ground in forest of Pinus densata and Quercus at 3500 m. Pileus 5-12 cm in diam., first grayish brown with reddish tinge, margin paler, then becoming yellowish brown, dry. Hymenophore adnate, first yellow, then dull yellow, ca. 2/mm, unchanging. Stipe 5-7 x 1-1.2 cm, whitish to cream colored, densely covered with dark brown squamules. Annulus pinkish brown. Context first white, then yellowish, unchanging. Taste mild. With a slide.
