Amanita nivalis Greville
Yunnan: Xianggelila (Zhongdian) Xian. Sichuan-Yunnan border area. South side of Zhongdian Daxue Shan. Grazed meadows, Rhododendron thickets, limestone and shale scree slopes and outcropping ledges. 28°34'24"N, 99°48'42"E; 4280-4600 m.
On ground near Polygonum, Rhododendron and Potentilla at 4300 m. Pileus 4-6 cm in diam., convex to applanate, gray to pale gray. Lamellae free, gray to grayish; edge brownish. Context of pileus whitish to grayish. Stipe 5-8 x 0.6-1.2 cm, densely covered with gray to grayish squamules. Volva at stipe base 2-3 x 1.5-2 cm; outer surface whitish, upper part grayish to gray; inner surface grayish to gray. With slides.
