On ground under Quercus at 3600 m.Pileus 8-11 cm in diam., convex, indistinctly umbonate, brown at disc, becoming fulvous towards margin; margin striate (R=12/55, 16/70, 12/40). Lamellae free, white; edge white. Stipe 15-20 x 1.5-2.5 cm, on whitish background densely covered with yellowish brown squamules. Volva at stipe base 4-6 x 2.5-3.5 cm, inner surface whitish, outer surface whitish, often with rusty spots. With slides and line drawings. Cited: Mycologia 96: 643-645. 2004.
