Amanita pantherina (aff.) (de Candolle) Krombholz
Sichuan: Xiangcheng Xian. Pass between Xiangcheng and Reda over Ma'an Shan. Open barren area at pass with scattered Quercus scrub and scattered Larix and Picea. 29°0'7"N, 99°44'34"E; 4200-4270 m.
On ground in forest of Quercus at 4100 m. Pileus 5.5-7 cm in diam., convex to applanate, often with depressed disc, brownish to light brown, covered with dirty white to grayish volval remnants; margin striate (R=7/37, 6/31,8/32). Lamellae free, white. Stipe 4.5-6 x 1-1.5 cm, white, fibrillose to glabrous; bulb 2-3 x 1.5-2 cm, ± fusiform, with a short volval limb, or volval remnants in several rings. Annulus almost medium, brownish above, whitish below. Context white, unchanging. With line drawings.
