Amanita nivalis Greville
Yunnan: Xianggelila (Zhongdian) Xian. Sichuan-Yunnan border area. South side of Zhongdian Daxue Shan. Grazed meadows, Rhododendron thickets, limestone and shale scree slopes and outcropping ledges. 28°34'24"N, 99°48'42"E; 4280-4600 m.
On ground among Polygonum, Potentilla, Cyperus and Berberis, sometimes also with scattered dwarf Rhododendron and Juniperus at 4300 m. Without other trees or shrubs. Pileus 3-5 cm in diam., convex, slightly umbonate, pale ochraceous to yellowish, sometimes with membranous, whitish volval remnants. Lamellae free, white, edge brownish. Stipe 4-6 x 0.6-1.2(-1.5) cm, dirty white, covered with brown squamules; Volva 2-3 x 1.5-2.5 cm, white, rarely with dirty white spots. Taste mild. With a slide.
