Yunnan: Zhongdian (Xianggelila) Xian. Road from Zhongdian (Xianggelila = Chinese pinyin for Shangri-la) to Haba Cun (at base of Haba Xue Shan - Haba Snow Mountain) between km marker 57 and 58. Mixed coniferous forest on gentle slope with intermixed deciduous trees of Acer, Betula and Salix. 27°40'56"N, 100°1'27"E; 3450-3460 m.
Moist, deeply shaded slope. Shrub ca. 3 m tall; indumentum tan; fruit immature, green.
