Yunnan: Zhongdian (Xianggelila) Xian. Along old road between Qiaotou and Zhongdian (Xianggelila = Chinese pinyin for Shangri-la) S of Xiao Zhongdian. Mixed forest of Pinus, Quercus, Betula and Populus with bamboo in understory. Forest and surrounding areas infested with leeches. 27°27'45"N, 99°53'51"E; 3190 m.
Seepage on steep slope at edge of forest. Tepals purple, white in throat, labellum with purple specks. Initially identified as Chusua pauciflora (Lindley) P. F. Hunt by Paul Ormerod, 20 August 2001.
