Xizang (Tibet): Jiangda (Gyamda) Xian. Ca. 21 km W of the city of Jiangda on highway 314 (to Changdu), then N on road to Yushu, Qinghai Province, ca. 32.5 km in a straight line from the center of the city of Jiangda. Meadow dominated by Kobresia, Bistorta and Saussurea and with Anaphalis, Pedicularis cranolopha, P. integrifolia and P. lachnoglossa. 31°41'4"N, 97°56'59"E; 4030-4100 m.
Meadow in moist, dark soil. Plants at all stages of development, from buds to immature fruit; florets purple; anther tube dark blue; stigmas purple.
