Cortinarius dionysae Robert Henry
Xizang (Tibet): Riwoqe Xian. Road from Changdu (Chamdo) to Nangqen, Qinghai, along Lancang Jiang (Ge Qu, or Ge River), then W along tributary of Lancang Jiang on road to Riwoqe via Machala coal mine. Meadow beside stream and slope, both with scattered shrubs; Berberis and Salix dominant, with Rosa and scattered Picea and Juniperus. 31°27'36"N, 96°43'29"E; 3735 m.
Cap 4-6 cm in diam., convex, finely rugose to smooth, dry but viscid when mature, brownish gray to dirty gray, but becoming grayish brown when mature, surface covered with dirty white volval remnants which are glabrescent. Lamellae adnate to sinuate, pale violaceus when young, rusty brown with pale violaceus tinge when mature; stipe 4-6 X 1-1.5 cm, dirty white, with brownish spots, cortina present; bulb marginate, 2-3 cm in diam.; context white to dirty white, unchanging.
